Recording hundreds of years of rabbinical debate and discussion in Israel and Babylonia, the Talmud is the foundation of traditional Jewish scholarship. This class gives an in-depth look at the laws and spiritual meanings of Shabbat. The Schottenstein Talmud in English is used for text study.
Jewish Mysticism (Ma’amarim)

The study of Chassidut explores the inner core of Judaism and the inner core of your own soul. What are we about in the world, who is G-d, and what does G-d want from us? This class uses English translations of the Chassidic discourses of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Torah Class for Women
Wednesday evenings, 8:00-9:00 PM
At The Belopolsky Home, 100 Selwyn Rd, Newton
Live with the Torah portion of the week, and learn its relevance to Jewish life in the 21st century. Students study the English text of a selection from the Torah portion, using the Stone translation, and learn the explanations of the traditional commentaries. Understanding of the Torah is taken to a deeper level by illuminating the content with the mystical teachings of Chabad Chassidism.
The Book of Jonah

The story of the prophet Jonah is famous for the miraculous experience of a human prophet being swallowed by a fish, then rescued and sent to the metropolis of Ninveh to persuade its citizens to return to the ways of G-d. Learn the story behind the text of the only book of the prophets dedicated to the spiritual awakening of a Gentile nation.
The Book of Jonah is so inspiring that it is read for the Haftarah at Minchah on Yom Kippur.
