Recording hundreds of years of rabbinical debate and discussion in Israel and Babylonia, the Talmud is the foundation of traditional Jewish scholarship. This class gives an in-depth look at the laws and spiritual meanings of Shabbat. The Schottenstein Talmud in English is used for text study.

The study of Chassidut explores the inner core of Judaism and the inner core of your own soul. What are we about in the world, who is G-d, and what does G-d want from us? This class uses English translations of the Chassidic discourses of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

Torah Class for Women
Wednesday evenings, 8:00-9:00 PM

At 100 Selwyn Rd., Newton, the Belopolsky Home
Live with the Torah portion of the week, and learn its relevance to Jewish life in the 21st century. Students study the English text of a selection from the Torah portion, using the Stone translation, and learn the explanations of the traditional commentaries. Understanding of the Torah is taken to a deeper level by illuminating the content with the mystical teachings of Chabad Chassidism.

 

 


Pirkay Avot/Ethics of the Fathers                           Shabbat afternoon, 45 minutes before Minchah

At 229 Dedham St., Beth Menachem Chabad Ethics of the Fathers contains timeless wisdom. It is a collection of ethics, honesty, and advice. According to the Jewish custom, we will study the six chapters of Tractate Avot during the weeks between Pesach and Shavuot.
